It's Fall and that always means thoughts of knitting are on the rise. I am always in search of a(nother!) good LYS (local yarn store). Many of you may know of these two, but I wanted to put out their info to support them. These are my current two favorite LYS and they are great places: 1. String Theory in downtown Glen Ellyn. https://stringtheoryyarncompan...Good products, good staff, good location. Opened by a woman who lost her brother in the 9/11/2001 attack at the Twin Towers in NYC. This was and is her effort to bring more good forward into her life and the lives of others. They are not very large but are full service and have wonderful yarns and supplies. They sell nice kits, too. They are right on Main Street in GE and near the train station and lots of great restaurants and other shops for a nice excursion. 2. Wool & Company in South Elgin (formerly of St. Charles). https://www.woolandcompany.com...Just WOW! Modern and not at all a "granny's attic full of yarn" sort of atmosphere. This new(-ish) location is just an amazing place with a beautiful aesthetic in even the design of the store. Located in a sort of more isolated office park a little east of all the commercial hubbub you'll find at intersection of Randall and Stearns Roads. It is a fantastic store with so many amazing yarns and other products. Has some nice open sit-and-knit/knitting class areas, great parking, and a really helpful staff. This is my new favorite and from Plainfield takes about 40 mins of a drive. Here's to another season or two of making beautiful, unique knits. If you don't know how to knit or crochet yet, both spots offer classes and can help you find local knitting groups.
