Description

MONROVIA, CA — The Monrovia Police Department will hold a DUI checkpoint on Sept. 24 in an undisclosed part of the city. Police officers will be on the lookout for drivers who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Authorities will also check if drivers have a valid license on them, the department said in a statement. The checkpoint will be held during the evening, but Monrovia police declined to say exactly when. Motorists who are charged with a DUI can expect to pay up to $13,500 in fines and fees. DUIs also result in possible jail time and a suspended driver's license, the department said. The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
