LOS ANGELES —The Los Angeles Police Department announced that last weekend it arrested multiple suspects in connection with the Sept. 2 shooting near Santee High School, which left a student wounded. According to the LAPD, at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Newton Gang Enforcement Detail (GED) officers detained the suspects, which included an alleged shooter and alleged co-conspirators. Newton detectives also obtained a search warrant to a residence relating to one of the subjects, police said. The LAPD said the subjects were arrested and detained at the Eastlake Juvenile Hall pending the District Attorney's review. The LAPD has not revealed the names of those arrested, or even how many suspects were detained. The arrests stemmed from a Sept. 2 shooting, which took place near the 2200 block of Maple Avenue, adjacent to Santee High School. According to the LAPD, at around 1:47 p.m. that day, Newtown Area patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at that location and discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified only as a Santee High student, was conscious and breathing and was transported to a local hospital by the LA Fire Department, authorities said. The LAPD said its detectives conducted an investigation of the shooting that included evidence from several surveillance cameras at the location, social media postings of the incident and interviews with several witnesses. This helped the detectives identify the shooter and co-conspirators, and the information was passed on to Newton GED officers with instructions to make an arrest. According to the LAPD, anyone with information about this incident, or another incident involving one of the suspects, is asked to call Newton Area detectives at (323) 846-5363. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).
