JOLIET, IL — Five months after 38-year-old Derek Webb hit a woman in the face and broke her leg, Joliet police have arrested Webb, authorities announced Wednesday. The Joliet man was arrested early Tuesday morning on two counts of aggravated battery, police reports show.
Back on April 19, Joliet officers responded to a report of a fight in the 1200 block of Dearborn Street. At the scene, officers determined that Webb was the culprit; he had attacked the woman, according to police.
"Webb struck the female in the face while she sat in a vehicle," Joliet police reports show. "Webb then pulled the female from the vehicle and threw her to the ground. Webb then fled from the area."
In June, Joliet Patch reported that a warrant was issued for Webb's arrest. The injured woman had been hospitalized at the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center following the April 19 attack on Dearborn Street.
Then, around 5:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Joliet officers were summoned to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Arizona Avenue. At the scene, Joliet police found Webb and took him into custody for the outstanding arrest warrants, authorities said.
"Webb was taken into custody without incident," police reports indicate.
Webb's bail remains set at $250,000. The defendant lives in the 1600 block of Moore Avenue, Will County Jail records reflect.
