CANONSBURG, PA — A Florida teen and Canon-McMillan High School student phoned in bomb threats to each other's schools last week, according to authorities. The threat made to Canon McMillan prompted the school's evacuation and students being sent home early so the building could be thoroughly searched.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office stated in a Facebook post that it investigated a threat that caused a similar situation at Arnold High School in Florida. Panama City Beach Police helped evacuate the school grounds while a Tyndall Air Force Base explosive detection team swept the building.
Bay County authorities said they contacted the Arnold student on Monday and learned he made the threat at Canon McMillan. The Panama City youth was charged with principal to making a false bomb threat for the incident at his school and charged with making a false bomb threat for the Canon-McMillan incident.
Further charges are expected to be filed, authorities said.
