NEWTOWN, PA — Thousands of Bucks County residents are expected to celebrate Market Day in Newtown next month after the annual fall event was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year's Market Day is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at Court Street and Centre Avenue. The free event will feature craftworkers, artisans and fine artists, colonial-era demonstrations and reenactments, as well as entertainment and other activities. Washington Crossing Bridge To Close Monday For Line-Painting McCaffrey's Market, Best Darn Kettlecorn, Aldo's Ristorante Italiano, and Joseph's Premiere Events & Catering will also be serving up dishes for the event. King's Indian Head Farms will have fresh fruits, vegetables and other items at its food stand. Market Day celebrates the colonial tradition of local farmers and homesteaders bringing their products and goods to town to sell to their neighbors. All proceeds from the event support the Newtown Historic Association. Wawa Hearing To Resume; Newtown Twp. Board Seeks Public Comment Organizers are seeking volunteers to help on Market Day, with high school students eligible to earn credit toward their volunteer requirements. 2021 Newtown Market Day events Hayrides: A Better Way Belgians will offer hayrides pulled by their Belgian Draft Horses for $5 per rider. Cash only. Children's Puppet Show: Presented by the Penn's Woods Puppet Theatre, the half-hour show will be held in the Boone Garden on Court Street. Show times are 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.Revolutionary War Encampment: The backyard at the Half Moon Inn will be set up like an outdoor colonial-era encampment. Includes loud gun discharges with blank ammunition.What's This Strange Thing?: Guests are invited to stop by the Newtown Historic Association's table and test their knowledge of historical objects by guessing what this year's "Strange Thing" might be.
