Press release from the City Of Davis: September 14, 2021 3:29 pm The City of Davis, in association with Healthy Davis Together, UC Davis, and the Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD), is bringing back community get-togethers with the 15th Davis Neighbors' Night Out on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Guidelines will be given for safe gathering following California Department of Public Health policies. Davis Neighbors' Night Out is a celebration of our community and a great opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another. Our focus this year is gathering neighborhoods safely to celebrate the community's continued work in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Neighbors are encouraged to host safe, small, outdoor gatherings and meet or re-connect with those in the neighborhood. The City encourages food safety, social distancing and face coverings as appropriate. Traditional event elements, such as fire truck and bus visits, will return again next year. To add to the festivities, there will be free giveaways throughout Davis Neighbors' Night Out. Healthy Davis Together is sponsoring host incentives and raffle prizes and party bags filled with goodies for attendees. Additionally, neighbors can tune into KDRT 95.7 FM or stream on kdrt.org for event coverage and the chance to win exciting grand prizes. KDRT is a project of nonprofit community media center Davis Media Access. Mayor Gloria Partida is looking forward to the event, stating, "As we continue to look for safe ways for community connection, the annual tradition of Neighbors' Night Out provides an occasion for neighbors to visit with each other in a relaxed setting. We are grateful for the partnership of Healthy Davis Together, UC Davis and ASUCD this year." The event is scheduled in October to include new or returning UC Davis students in neighborhood festivities.  Neighbors, neighborhood associations, Neighborhood Watch Liaisons, apartment complexes, and/or homeowner associations are encouraged to be a "Event Sponsor." The Event Sponsor will take the lead in setting up a small, neighborhood gatherings. Typically, there are between 100-125 small block events each year. This year, the goal is to have 200 gatherings throughout Davis—but there is no limit. Help us reach our goal by being a part of the fun!
