First, today's weather: Partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 71 Low: 47. Here are the top stories today in Beaverton: Beaverton Restaurant Week is nearly upon us, folk! The food and hospitality industries have had a tough road through the pandemic, and the Beaverton Downtown Association (BDA) wants those businesses to feel especially supported through the upcoming event. In turn, some participating restaurants will offer discounts for frontline workers, including Carina's Bakery in downtown. Beaverton Restaurant Week will run from September 23 through October 3. Head over to the BDA site for a complete list of participating restaurants. (KOIN.com)A duplex fire early Tuesday morning left four people displaced. The residents of the Jaylee Street homes were able to safely escape, and firefighters had the flames under control within 25 minutes. TVF&R has not released a cause of the fire. (KPTV.com) The Oregon Medical Board is suing a Beaverton pediatrician regarding alleged unethical research regarding vaccinations. Dr. Paul Thomas's study of autism rates compared children who had received childhood vaccines according to the federally recommended schedule with those who had shots delayed or weren't vaccinated at all. The board says Thomas has failed to provide documents they requested regarding participants in his research. Thomas's license was suspended by the Oregon Medical Board last December. (The Lund Report) There might be a new Washington County District Attorney in town if public defender Brian Decker gets his way. Decker announced his bid to unseat the current DA, Kevin Barton. Criminal justice reform appears to be the issue that will differentiate the two candidates, according to reporter Tess Riski. (Willamette Week) More information is available on the deadly road rage incident that occurred near SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway on September 3. The man killed has been identified as Salem resident Mark Stadamire, 51. Police have not identified the man who shot Stadamire, but they say he is cooperating with the investigation. Meanwhile, Stadamire's family is struggling to understand how such a thing could happen.
