ATLANTA — An early poll shows that University of Georgia football great Herschel Walker is stiff-arming his competition in the Republican race to unseat U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock.
More than three-quarters of voters surveyed by the Atlanta-based Trafalgar Group said they would choose Walker in the GOP senate primary for Georgia were held this month, according to poll results released last week by the pollster.
The Heisman Trophy winner and former pro running back officially entered the GOP primary race late last month after flirting with a run since January. With a vocal endorsement from friend and former President Donald Trump dating, Walker is enjoying a massive lead over the field without having done much in the way of campaigning.

At the other side of the wide margin to second-place with 6.3 percent of the vote was Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, who perhaps responded earlier this week by throwing his weight behind support for a Buckhead secession from Atlanta.
