Description
Children’s Museum of Atlanta is providing options for local schools, daycares and community centers to enhance their classrooms with its Museum-On-the-Go programs, available through both in-person instruction with the Museum’s educators or highly interactive virtual presentations. Created specifically for students in Pre-K through third grades, the programs include hands-on engagement and a take-home activity for students. All activities and workshops are designed to meet the developmental needs of students at each grade level and meet Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards, as well as the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Virtual programs are currently available to reserve and in-person programs will be available beginning Sept. 27 and are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the school year. “Our goal is to provide local students with the playful and whimsical, yet educational, programming found at the Museum in their own classrooms,” said Children’s Museum of Atlanta Executive Director Jane Turner. “Our workshops and activities uplift kids to learn through the Power of Play – a dynamic experience that is critical for children after the isolation they have faced due to COVID-19 over the past year.” Students can enjoy immersive learning led by the Museum’s professionally trained educators, while teachers can feel rest assured that each program is designed to support their curriculum and bring learning to their classroom through play in fun-filled, engaging ways. The Museum offers 11 different educational programs that focus on a variety of skillsets and topics, such as math, engineering, science, art, music, social skills and reading. Featured programs include Awesome Architecture, Dance Around the World, Gloopy Glop, Head in the Clouds, Junior Engineer Challenge and more. The Museum-On-the-Go programs are made possible by the Museum’s generous sponsors, including Novelis, Fulton County Arts & Culture through the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. Prioritizing the health and safety of the community, Children’s Museum of Atlanta is implementing COVID-19 restrictions on in-person workshops. The Museum will only offer in-person programs to schools with mask mandates. All in-person activities are dependent on the state of COVID-19. To book a program, reservations must be made at least four weeks in advance. Virtual workshop costs start at $185 and supply box costs start at $15, with in-person pricing beginning at $220.
