Do you need community service hours (at least 50-60) or do you want to get out and volunteer in an easy and safe environment but one with a noble purpose? This might be the spot for you.... so keep reading. We are specifically looking for volunteers who will greet our donors with a smile, welcoming personality and a friendly vibe. You must be at least 16 yrs old and no upper age limit, but please be comfortable working with a computer. This role is VERY important because it gives our staff an opportunity to do what they do without interruption, collect blood! If there is no volunteer at the desk, then our must toggle between taking care of cu This is also a sitting position, one where you will meet some of the most giving people in the world, our blood donors! We have some Saturdays open and many Sundays from 12-4 available. There are also various blood drives around the city but the donor center is the place we really need a GREAT volunteer to meet our donors as they arrive and as they leave. What you need to know: ~You must fill out a volunteer application and pass a background check. ~ Please be customer service oriented and know how to make people feel welcome and needed. ~Once through the application process, you will meet with the Volunteer Engagement Specialist who will interview you to make sure it's a good fit for everyone. ~If you're a high school student and need CS hours, this might be the perfect place for you! You will learn customer service skills, and you can even do your homework or read a book in between checking in donors. ~If you're a retiree and love to talk to people, this would be perfect for you as well, it's a great way to meet the wonderful folks in your community.
