Splendid Captains needs a guitarist and/or keyboard player

Splendid Captains is our new project at the intersection of post-rock, fusion, and prog. Our guitarist/keyboardist had to leave for personal reasons, so we seek one or two new collaborators to help shape the band’s direction. We'd like to bring in a guitarist and/or keyboardist (and/or someone who plays both) with strong chops, eclectic tastes, and an interest in creating innovative music that integrates many styles and influences. Our songwriting emphasizes musicianship and rhythmic variety, with lots of room exploration and improvisation. We don't envision a big role for vocals. Also, it's not a jam band. It's also not metal. Our goal is to make creative music that’s innovative and ambitious—and fun to listen to. We don't think those goals are mutually exclusive. Our influences include Snarky Puppy, Forq, Massive Attack, Antibalas, Tortoise, Explosions in the Sky, The Mercury Program, Bonobo, Efferklang, Mute Math, Jaga Jazzist, Nerve, Mars Volta, Cinematic Orchestra, and Serge Gainsbourg. These aren't artists we're trying to copy, but they are points of reference and parts of our musical vocabulary. We have extensive experience with writing, performing, and recording, and want to begin playing out as soon as possible.
