McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of Chehalis, WA, that has been in business since 1988. MRD operates in commercial quarries, timberlands and construction sites throughout the Western US. MRD is seeking a full-time Powderman to operate out of our Salem, Oregon territory. The ideal candidate will have experience in a construction environment. The candidate must be willing to travel and stay out of town when needed. The applicant must also have a clean driving record and pass a pre-employment drug screening test. Minimum responsibilities include: Must comply with all MRD policies and procedures Applicant should be physically fit and willing to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to follow directions specific to the Blaster in Charge or Project Manager Ability to pack buckets of crushed stone to loaded blast holes Knowledge of safety procedures while working with explosives Ability to work with limited supervision on occasion Able to maintain a clean job site Required to work early mornings, long days, and occasional weekends Minimum skills and qualifications include: Valid driver's license with proof of insurance Able to pass pre-employment drug test Clean driving record (no more than 3 moving violations within the last 3 years) Clean background (no felonies) Reliable transportation to our base shop Must have positive attitude and strong work ethic Must be a team player Prior construction laborer experience a plus Willing to work weekends when needed Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage 401k Option PTO Paid Holidays Employee Referral Bonus Program Career Advancement Opportunities 45-55+ hours per week Hourly Rate: $15-$19
