The City of Medford has two (2) openings for evening shift, part-time Custodians. This is a great part-time opportunity to supplement your income! The perfect candidate has a positive outlook, enjoys work assignments that require attention to detail, and has the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment while performing a full range of custodial duties related to the care and maintenance of assigned buildings and facilities. Schedule: Two (2) schedule options: Sunday - Wednesday, 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm Monday - Friday,  6:00 pm to 10:00 pm  20 hours/week Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and some holidays. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Must be 18 years of age or older. Six (6) months or more experience as a custodian with an industrial, janitorial firm, or commercial business and thorough knowledge of custodial materials and methods. Knowledge and experience with various types of floor maintenance equipment including floor scrubbers, extractors, buffers, and carpet cleaners. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. Ability to obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance upon hire.  Must maintain acceptable driving record. Requires completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City. These duties are a representative example; position assignments may vary depending on the business needs of the department and organization.  This position: Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects rest rooms fixtures and floors; replenishes supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, mops (wet and dry), strips, waxes and polishes floors. Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment.  Washes windows, mirrors and walls, tables and chairs.  Empties and cleans waste receptacles. Disposes of collected waste, recycled goods and other materials. Performs a variety of minor routine building maintenance tasks; identifies and reports building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.  Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties. Scope of assigned area will depend on departmental and/or citywide operational structure and is at the discretion of the Supervisor. Current technical and professional knowledge of complex principles, methods, standards and techniques associated with the janitorial profession, including, without limitation: Knowledge and experience with various types of floor maintenance equipment including floor scrubbers, extractors, buffers, and carpet cleaners. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. Ability to obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance upon hire.  Must maintain acceptable driving record.
