Canvasser & phone banking We engage in progressive policy advocacy, and are working to pass local laws to improve Michigan Communities. Applications are on a rolling timeline where early applicants will receive priority consideration. This opportunity is from September 9- November 5th, 2021. Additional opportunities will be available in the future. Ideal Candidates will have: ✓ A Strong, Reliable Work Ethic – The position will consist of a commitment of 15 to 25 hours per week for at least two months. ✓ A Desire for Political Skill Development and Self Improvement – Each canvasser will receive training to support their development in campaign management, political communications, strategic plan development, fundraising and more. ✓ A successful Canvasser needs to present the company’s ideas to the widest number of people. This requires excellent communication skills, customer service and marketing knowledge. They also need to have an in-depth knowledge of the offer and be persuasive. ✓ The ability to consistently meet daily and weekly quotas for assigned projects. ✓ Reliable transportation, a smartphone, ability to walk 5 hours in most weather conditions. ✓ A Record of Excellence – Applicants should demonstrate a record of volunteerism/service or have shown a capacity for consistent achievement. CANVASSER RESPONSIBILITIES You will have a standard set of responsibilities, and will take on a specialized role to assist the campaign. Responsibilities may include: ● Field Organizing – Volunteer Recruitment, Training, Mobilization, Organizing and “Field” Tactics (Canvassing, Phone banking, etc.); ● Political Communications – Political Research; Analysis and Writing; Media work and support; ● Online Activism – Building our Social Network, Promoting online activism, Website Design and upkeep and content for E-mail blasts; ● General Administrative Support – All canvassers will spend some time supporting general campaign activities and office needs COMPENSATION $20 per hour plus 35 cents per mile. To be paid twice monthly, as an independent contractor. 1099 will be issued LOCATION • Canvassing will be done primarily in the Metro Detroit area and near Ingham County. • Phone banking will be done in Belleville or remotely TO APPLY: Interested parties should submit a resume below.
