APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: All applicants must submit an online application at www.bendparksandrec.org/jobs About the job: The Facility Specialist performs a wide range of facility and building equipment operation and maintenance functions for recreation facilities ensuring the public can enjoy a clean, safe, efficient and attractive facility. This is a full-time benefited position. Salary Range: $21.40 - $28.30 Hourly A day in the life: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Performs preventive and routine maintenance functions to facility and aquatics mechanical systems, and related equipment. Performs pool operator functions, including maintaining circulation, filtration and chemical feed systems, pool water quality and chemistry, and required testing and records. Performs repair and improvements to building, pools, mechanical systems, and equipment. Monitors and adjusts building system controls to ensure efficient operations. Ensures compliance with applicable state and local health, safety and sanitation requirements including maintaining appropriate records. Performs routine maintenance and repair to fitness equipment including cardio and strength. Performs regular facility operation inspections, and correct or report problems. Plans and prioritizes maintenance duties with Manager and other Facility Specialist position. Performs basic carpentry, minor plumbing, painting, roofing, masonry. Repairs and maintains fixtures, lavatories, concrete, windows, and appliances. Identifies and purchases materials for job assignments. What you'll need for success: Strong Knowledge of: building maintenance requirements; commercial pool operations; building and aquatic mechanical systems; state health and safety requirements for public swimming pools and spas; building and fire codes; regulations for handling and storage of hazardous chemicals; general cleaning and sanitation requirements for a public facility and the appropriate use of cleaning agents and solvents. Demonstrated knowledge of: building mechanical systems; principles, practices, and methods used in facility maintenance; maintenance and operation of powered equipment and hand tools. Skill and ability to: perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs to building, pools, mechanical systems and equipment and fitness equipment; perform plumbing, mechanical and carpentry tasks; read blueprints; use computers for control, maintenance and general applications; demonstrate strong initiative and follow through; possess strong diagnostic and problem solving skills; exercise good judgment and initiative; work effectively as a part of a team; work at a fast pace with attention to detail; consistently work flexible work schedule; establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships within a team and the general public. What we're looking for: High school diploma or equivalent; two years of trade or technical school preferred; AND Four (4) years of experience in park services, public works, or related field with emphasis on facility maintenance and/or specialized construction trade; some aquatics or recreation facility experience preferred OR Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training. License: 1. Ability obtain within 30 days of hire a valid Oregon Driver's License 2.
