Forklift Operator – Environmental Tech – Weekends – Green Jobs Regional Environmental Company looking for a handful of EXPERIENCED hard-working forklift operators to work at local household hazardous waste events (HHW) this on the weekends. Mostly Saturdays. Hours vary but are generally 6:30am to 4pm. LOCATIONS VARY EVERY WEEKEND. We run events in the City of Philadelphia, Montgomery County, Chester County, Bucks County, Berks County, and Delaware County. We also service other counties in the state such as Centre, Blair, Cumberland, and Clinton. We service much of NJ, NY, and CT as well. No experience necessary. Forklift operators must provide proof that they meet the OSHA requirements for training and testing. HHWs are events sponsored by the local waste authorities that provide residents a place to drop off their household hazardous waste for proper disposal such as paint, oil, gas/thinners, pesticides, cleaners, pool chemicals, aerosol cans, propane, bulbs, batteries, etc. Our company, MXI Environmental Services, is a private company that bids on managing these events. We provide trucks, equipment, and staff to manage the collection of the waste, characterize it, pack it in proper UN rate containers, and load it to ship into permitted trucks. LOCATIONS VARY EVERY WEEKEND. New staff would initially be responsible for helping move material with forklift and help load the truck. During downtime operators are expected to assist with the job by safely unloading waste from citizens' cars and safely transporting to a sortation area occupied by highly trained staff and, in addition, helping setup and breakdown the event. Forklift Operators are expected to stay later than most staff to help load the truck after the job. Events take place on Saturdays and some Sundays. Hours vary but are generally 6:30am to 4pm. Pay begins at $250 for the day and can grow up to $350 per day with additional training and responsibilities. If you have no credentials then you will begin at $200 until you demonstrate you can drive and pass a competence test. If you cannot operate a forklift the Project Manager will determine if he will invite you back at that pay grade. You can qualify to start at $250 if you have one of the following: • Proof of OSHA Forklift training and experience • Bachelor’s Degree in Science from an accredited college/university located in the United States • Or a CURRENT 40 Hour HAZWOPER training certificate. Must provide copy of degree and official transcripts/ CURRENT 40 Hour HAZWOPER training certificate to qualify. First aid certifications earn an extra $25 per event automatically. New staff would be required to complete an online company training seminar before working the event. The company provides an extra $25 in the first paycheck as compensation for the training. No experience in the Environmental field is necessary. Best asset for candidates is a strong work ethic. The company values and rewards hard work and teamwork. Those who do not work hard will not be invited back to work regardless of past experience or credentials.
