Wellfield Technician - I: The purpose of this position is to assist in the operation and maintenance of a landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) including all ancillary actions/activities as needed. Responsibilities and Duties Principal Responsibilities Include: • Assist in balancing and tuning of the GCCS, which may include but is not limited to the following; o Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; o Develop basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations and develop the ability to work within an environmentally regulated industry. • Assist in the proper operation and maintenance of the following GCCS equipment: o LFG flare(s), o End-Use project (High Btu Plant, Internal Combustions Engines (ICEs), etc.) o Assist in the maintenance of the GCCS as needed (raising/replacement of wellheads, risers, jumpers, etc.) to keep the GCCS operational and in compliance with regulatory and company requirements. o Perform GCCS preventative maintenance (repairing hoses, wellheads, ports, and associated hardware to prevent oxygen from entering the gas system) o Calibrate, operate and maintenance sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection. o Maintain the condensate system to site sumps, including pump maintenance when required. o Maintain area around wellheads and other parts of the GCCS (wells, valves, water injection points, etc.), as applicable. This includes labeling, weeding and general maintenance as required and directed. o Assist in the operation and maintenance of the liquid injection system in use at the site, as applicable and directed. Maintain equipment, records and all needed information associated with the liquid injection system. o Assist/Perform liquid level readings as needed/directed. • Assist in Reporting/Recordkeeping: o Keep records of equipment PM maintenance performed and communicate them to the Site Manager as required/requested. o Collection and submittal of all reporting data required for compliance, operational tracking, and improvement. o Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction. This includes wellfield readings, well logs, all required/ requested reporting. • Availability o Remain on call 24/7 (when instructed) for off hour shutdowns and emergencies, as needed and directed by Site Manager. • Safety/Security o Keep management informed of any potential issues that could affect the safety or performance of the sites and or equipment. o Maintain operational control of the site including vendors, visitors or other persons who may enter/visit the site/facility. o Keep site secure by keeping doors and gates locked. o Keep site ready for visitors and potential customers at all times, keeping the site clean and ready for show. o Operate and maintain any company vehicles in a safe manner and follow all laws relative to local authorities. Keep maintenance records and mileage log on any company vehicles. • Assist landfill employees as available and needed, Maintain a professional relationship with landfill management and employees. • Cross training with the Site Manager to ensure that critical tasks are understood and can be completed accordingly when the Site Manager is not available. • Other responsibilities as directed by Manager. Qualifications and Skills Physical Demands: • The employee in this position will be required to lift objects of up to 50 pounds in weight. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. Work Environment and Hazards: • As with any job there are potential hazards to the job. Flammable gas, hazardous chemicals, electrical shock, arc flash and potential hazards associated with operating company vehicles and tools. All PPE should be worn and caution taken when operating the equipment. Company safety policies should be followed at all times. Any chemicals should only be used for their intended propose per the direction on the containers label. • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Most work is within the vicinity of a municipal solid waste disposal facility. Employee will routinely operate a motor vehicle and/or ATV style off road vehicle on unimproved terrain. • Employee will be required to respond to call-outs (plant upset conditions) during other than normal business hours and work unscheduled overtime and may occasionally be required to travel to other work locations. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
