Valet Bike Parking is one of many ways that SVBC encourages people to bike to public events. Please read more here: https://www.habitatcycleofhope.org. Volunteers at the Valet Bike Parking for the 'Cycle of Hope' are key members of our team in the field on the day. It is with your help that Valet Bike Parking is possible. Most importantly, be prepared to have FUN! From set up, to welcoming our clients & their bikes, securely storing and watching their bikes, to rolling the bikes back to their owners, to advocating for SVBC's mission and much more, your volunteering supports SVBC in running successful programs and advocacy while striving to create a healthy community, environment, and economy through bicycling for people who live, work, or play in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. So a HUGE thank you in advance! ShiftsThere will be two volunteer shifts for the event on Sunday, 3rd November, 2019:   Shift Hours: 1) 10:30 am to 3:00 pm; and                       2) 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. What to Expect: Come have Fun!! Your shift involves event set up or set down, registration of our client's bikes, storing and securing these bicycles, keeping a watchful eye during the event, happily returning them to the attendees after the event and with ample time for you to talk to the members of the community and experience the 'Cycle of Hope' Event. Snacks & drinks will be provided. You may reserve volunteer spots by registering one ticket per volunteer (e.g. if you would like to bring 3 volunteers from your group, you need to register their name (or yours as a place holder) for each ticket). Please try to be as accurate as possible. If you do not end up needing all of the tickets you originally registered for, please notify the Community Projects Manager at [email protected] as soon as possible. If you sign up for a shift, please let us know if things change as soon as possible. This helps us to try and fill the spot well before the event.  QualificationsVolunteers will need to be able to verbally or non-verbally greet bicyclists. Some volunteers will move tables and chairs (can be done in pairs). Some volunteers will wheel and lift bikes onto racks. Volunteers aged 13 to 18, who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to bring a signed waiver form (below) to the Event Lead the day of the event. Volunteers under the age of 13 must also be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to volunteer.  Parents/Guardians, if your child is coming with you to volunteer, the expectation is that they can be independent and support the bike parking program without your need to supervise them the entire time. You will be working together but must be able to leave them unattended at times. If you are unsure if this is an age appropriate volunteer activity for your child, please do not hesitate to contact the Community Programs Manager.  More InformationOnce registered, volunteers will be contacted using the contact information provided during your registration. More detailed information will be provided closer to the event date, so please stay tuned! If you have any questions, please email our Bike Parking program manager, Eleni Jacobson at [email protected]. Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to creating a healthy community, environment, and economy through bicycling for people who live, work, or play in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, is committed to having 10% of trips made by bicycle by 2025.
