Working at GMS The Girls' Middle School is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable Facilities Assistant and Van Driver who has experience working with tools, has a good driving record, and is able to lift up to 50 lbs. The successful candidate will be comfortable driving a 10-12 passenger sized van. This is a part time role lasting the entire 2021 – 2022 school year. There may be a possibility of the position continuing into the next school year. This position requires a person who is willing and able to support all aspects of school operation and facilities maintenance. We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates consistency, punctuality and a willingness to embrace the GMS experience. This candidate will work with staff members and students and therefore must be comfortable and professional when interacting with all members of the community. The ability to work the necessary schedule is an essential requirement of this position. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 2:00pm to 6:00pm, although additional hours may occasionally be required/available. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Ability to engage in multiple and varied physical activities - duties related to maintenance and school operation; Enjoy working in a team environment and cooperating on chores; Punctuality and reliability are a must; Good communication skills are required; Speaking Spanish is a plus; A willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitly defined; Able to meet all the requirements of working in a middle school environment, including but not limited to: passing a LiveScan background check; being vaccinated for COVID-19; passing a TB screen; working while masked; Willing to drive students using school vans to games and practices – this requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. This position requires significant physical activity, including but not limited to standing, sitting, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, gesturing, reaching.
