NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A local business's struggle to survive and, at the same time, help students struggling with remote-learning classes called for a celebration of a job well done on the occasion of years of serving the community. The Tutoring Solutions Learning Center, along with its owner Victoria Suarez, marked their fifth year of operation with an anniversary cake-cutting hosted by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce at the Learning Center in the Quaker Ridge Shopping Center on North Avenue. The Chamber of Commerce was joined by Mayor Noam Bramson, Economic Development Manager Lisa Davis, Mariana Jusufaj from the Rebound New Rochelle team and Samantha Vargas from the New Rochelle Communications team. A global pandemic might have spoiled the celebration, if not for Suarez's creativity and commitment. Tutoring Solutions Learning Center relocated to its current address in early 2020 but COVID prevented a grand opening ribbon-cutting at that time. Soon after, COVID restrictions forced the learning center to close completely while Suarez pivoted her business to offering online tutoring sessions. "Normally, the New Rochelle Chamber celebrates a business with a ribbon cutting when it opens, but today we're celebrating something even more memorable – a business's five-year survival, during which they were forced to shut down, but managed to come back to celebrate their anniversary," Rob Hayes, Chamber of Commerce President and owner of the famed Beechmont Tavern said marking the occasion. (New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce) Tutoring Solutions Learning Center offers program options that include homework help, study skills counseling and academic support for elementary, middle school and high school students. The center also offers prep programs for state tests, NYS Regents, SAT, ACT and other standardized admissions tests. Tutoring Solutions also offers unique parent workshops to help families to contribute to students' academic success. At the cake-cutting, owner Victoria Suarez recounted that a love of working one-on-one with students led to her opening Tutoring Solutions Learning Center five years ago on September 1. She has over a decade of teaching experience as a math content specialist focusing on middle and high school math and science. "Education is my passion," Suarez said. "We want to be a pillar of the community as a trusted resource for families. We are thrilled to be opening our doors once again."
