NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Detectives from the New Rochelle Police Department turned to a high-tech resource to identify a suspect after shots were fired at the Heritage Homes housing complex. New Rochelle police officers on patrol heard gunshots coming from the Heritage Homes housing complex on Sept. 6, just after 11 p.m. Police saw people fleeing the area of the shooting, but they were not able to identify a shooter or victim. One shell casing was found in the area where officers reported hearing gunshots. Detectives worked with the state-of-the-art technology and tracking tools at the Real Time Crime Center at Westchester County Police Headquarters to help crack the case. By the afternoon of September 11, investigators tracked down George Wesley Nelson from New Britain, Connecticut. Police said the 38-year-old ended up admitting to his involvement in the shooting. Nelson was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. SEE ALSO: Shots Fired In New Rochelle, 'Ghost Gun' Seized By CopsPolice Release More Details About Flowers Shooting
