Description
Costs and Tax Implications of Proposed School to be Discussed at Community Forum Medfield residents who are eager to learn more about the proposed new elementary school, its costs, and its tax implications are encouraged to attend or tune in remotely to the School Building Committee's (SBC's) September Community Forum. This month's presentation will be held in-person on September 22nd at 7PM in the Medfield High School (MHS) or can be viewed remotely via Facebook Live or Zoom. "The SBC and I are excited to have finally arrived at this stage of the project. Months of planning and working with the MSBA and the architects has yielded a project budget that we feel balances the tradeoffs between costs and functionality and will stand the test of time." said Jeff Marsden, Superintendent of Medfield Schools. "We wholly understand a new school is a major investment for residents and plan to go through the cost projections in great detail. There will be ample time for the community to ask questions." "This November," Marsden continued, "in a special town meeting, Medfield residents will be voting 'Yes or No' on whether or not they support the proposed school in the lot adjacent to Wheelock School. We hope, between now and then, Medfield residents come to our meetings, read our materials, and stop by our booth on Medfield Day to learn about the proposed school's costs, educational benefits, site advantages, and why, after two-and-a-half years of studying all the options, we believe in this school on the Wheelock campus." The SBC's September Community Forum will be held in-person in the auditorium at Medfield High School. Community members may also choose to join the conversation remotely via Zoom or via the SBC's Facebook page - Elementary School Project Wheelock Campus. Please refer to the Facebook page or Instagram for the Zoom link prior to the meeting.
