Description

WAUKESHA, WI—A man died after Waukesha police responded to a medical call on Ellis Street early Tuesday morning. Three officers responded to the home in the 1300 block of Ellis Street for a 58-year-old man who was having trouble breathing, Waukesha Police said in a news release. Police said the man was uncooperative and they concluded that a domestic violence incident had occurred. Police said the officers used physical force and a stun gun to take the man into custody when he didn't comply with the arrest. The man lost consciousness after being handcuffed and life saving measures were given. He was taken to the intensive care unit where he later died. The officers involved in the arrest had been with the department anywhere between one to four years. "We have placed the involved officers on administrative leave which is consistent with departmental policy and general law enforcement standards. This leave allows the services that are designated to help law enforcement officers, civilian employees, and family members maintain their professional and personal wellness during and following critical incidents," the news release said. The investigation is being conducted by law enforcement officials from Milwaukee and the City of Greenfield Police Department, which is the lead agency.
