BOSTON, MA — A former clerk for the Boston Police Department who authorities said stole nearly $30,000 in overtime pay over two years pleaded guilty in federal court Monday, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Marilyn Golisano, 68, pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement from an agency receiving federal funds and six counts of wire fraud. Golisano's arrest warrant identified her as a Malden resident. Golisano, who handled the overtime paperwork for her unit, submitted dozens of false overtime slips in 2017 and 2018 claiming she had worked extra hours, often forging her supervisor's signature, federal authorities said. Golisano never logged into the Boston Police Department's computer system during many of the overtime shifts she claimed to work, despite her job being primarily centered around the computer, the USAO said. In addition, cell phone location information placed Golisano well outside Boston when she was supposed to be working overtime, authorities said. Golisano fraudulently received $11,000 from the department in 2017 and $18,000 in 2018, the USAO said. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2022.
