MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Mercer County, Executive Brian M. Hughes announced Tuesday. This comes days after FEMA approved a Major Disaster Declaration for Mercer County on Friday, Sept. 10. The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is located at Hollowbrook Community Center, 320 Hollowbrook Drive, Ewing Township, and will assist Mercer County residents or businesses whose property was damaged during Tropical Storm Ida. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 14 the center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays and Sunday. No appointment is needed to visit the center. The DRC is open to residents and businesses from every municipality in Mercer County, and residents from other counties that received the FEMA "Disaster" declaration, officials said. The DRC will be staffed by FEMA representatives who will provide information on disaster aid and answer questions. Last Friday, officials declared Mercer County residents "eligible" to receive federal aid. The state Office of Emergency Management and FEMA were out in Mercer County last Tuesday to conduct preliminary damage assessments. "I greatly appreciate FEMA's response to the situation here in Mercer County, where residents in some of our communities are in dire need of assistance," Hughes said in a statement.
