HOUSTON, TX — Houston largely avoided severe flooding that was forecast to come with Tropical Storm Nicholas, which made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in the early hours of Tuesday morning along the Gulf Coast southwest of Houston. Still, there are some high-water areas as of Tuesday morning that have forced lane and road closures in and around Houston. As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the areas most affected are different points along Interstates 45 and 10, east and southeast of Houston.
