SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Tuesday is the day: It's the last day to turn your ballots in or vote in person for the gubernatorial recall election that could unseat first-term Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom. Ballots include 46 candidates who are vying for Newsom's job, including 24 Republicans, nine Democrats and 13 others. Polls and drop-off locations close at 8 p.m. "Voters who still have their vote-by-mail ballot can drop it off at any polling location, vote center, or ballot drop box," said California Secretary of State Shirley Weber. "If you're voting in person, you have a right to cast your ballot as long as you are in line by 8 p.m." If you are not registered to vote, there's still time. Same-day voter registration is available at each county election office, polling place and vote center across the state. To do so, you just need to fill out a voter registration form at the site. "[Those] ballots will be counted once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process," Weber said in a statement.
