PELHAM, NH — A Nashua hunter who lost his footing on a log was injured and assisted by the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department on Tuesday. Conservation officers were sent to the Peabody Forest in Pelham around 11:30 a.m. for a report of a hunter who had fallen in the woods and sustained a leg injury. Johnathan Briand, 33, of Nashua, was able to give conservation officers a location of where he was in the woods. Just after noon, the officers found the hunter. Briand, according to Lt. Adam Cheney, said he stepped on a log and lost his footing. Briand, who was around 200 yards from his vehicle, was helped out of the woods by a conservation officer. He then drove himself to the Parkland Medical Center in Derry for care. Cheney said Briand was properly equipped for the activity he was involved in.
