CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire rapist and sex offender has been sent back to prison after being convicted of possession of child sexual abuse images and failure to register online identifiers. Eric Gadbois Jr., 30, of Concord was arrested in June 2020 on a single count of distribution of child sexual abuse images, three counts of possession child sex abuse images; buy, etc., and two counts of sex offender registry; knowing failure to comply-registration of online identifiers, all felonies, after police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to the tip, Pinterest, the social media company, reported a user name had uploaded an apparent child sexual abuse image featuring a boy in December 2018. After a multi-month investigation, police were able to identify Gadbois as a suspect and found he had Instagram and SnapChat accounts that he had not reported, a violation of his sex offender status. As a registered sex offender, due to a rape conviction in 2012, after an incident in Rochester in 2011, Gadbois was required to register all online identifiers with police. Hundreds of files were found on a remote hard drive while 63 were deleted from his phone, according to a court affidavit. County Attorney Paul Halvorsen said Gadbois was convicted on Friday on four image charges as well as two online identifier charges. He was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison, stand committed, on two charges, and six to 12 years suspended for 10 years on two other possession charges. On the online identifiers charges, Gadbois was sentenced to four to eight years. The sentences will be served concurrently, Halvorsen said. A distribution of child sexual abuse image charge was nolle prossed. Attorney Carley McWhirk prosecuted the case, Halvorsen said. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
