HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Huntersville Police have released a sketch of the suspect that authorities believe was involved in a fatal shooting that took place during an argument at North Mecklenburg Park last month. Police describe the suspect as being a male in his 20s or 30s, standing 5-foot-10 with a slim build and with fizzy hair and with tattoos on both of his arms, police said. The incident took place between 6 and 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 at North Mecklenburg Park, which is located at 16131 Old Statesville Rd. Police arrived to find a man with a single gunshot wound that police said he sustained following an argument that took place during a basketball game. Shots were fired during the argument and the victim was hit and was taken to a local hospital. Police announced that last week that the victim recently died from his injuries and that their investigation into the incident now involved homicide charges. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect that is being sought is asked to contact Lt. Sean Freeston with the Huntersville Police Department at (704) 464-5400. Tips may also be called into North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers at (704) 896-7867 or online at northmecklenburgcrimestoppers.org.
