Press release from the University of Alaska Anchorage:
September 13, 2021
Dear UAA Community,
I am pleased to share important updates from the UA Board of Regents meeting that took place last week and reaffirm my commitment to keeping UAA affordable for our students. I have advocated for a freeze on the cost of tuition and fees for the 2022-23 academic year. The board will discuss this topic at their next meeting Nov. 11-12.
Highlights from last week's meeting include the board voting unanimously to establish a Bachelor of Arts degree program in Early Childhood Education at UAA.
The regents also affirmed the distribution of $1.6 million in capital funding for UAA deferred maintenance projects. In my video message, I share that priority deferred maintenance initiatives include improvements to west campus. However, we are still making decisions about how best to allocate the entirety of the funds to address critical needs across our campuses.
Please stay tuned for more updates, including information about "Conversations with the Chancellor and Cabinet" sessions, where you are invited to connect virtually and discuss the topics that matter most to you with my leadership team. Sincerely,Sean Parnell, UAA Chancellor
