CalNeva Towers is a regional Microwave Telecommunications provider based in Reno, Nevada. We are seeking an experienced Cell Tower Technician with supervisory skills to oversee ongoing network maintenance, and participate in ongoing network expansion to support our wholesale carrier customers. This position requires the ability to effectively schedule AND participate in specialized projects under the remote direction of the CEO, and often in cooperation with Regional Project Managers. Scope of work is vast and requires tower climbing, networking/cable management, office management, and a great deal of drive time between cell tower and data center locations, etc. Emergency travel may be required throughout the States of Reno and California from time to time, with little notice. At this time, this position is approximately 50% administrative and 50% work in the field. Onboarding and network training will be provided by Regional Managers who will continue to provide support as needed. TOWER TECHNICIAN/SUPERVISOR- JOB DESCRIPTION - Professionally represent CalNeva Towers through all contact with customers and worked performed - Manage a small staff (1-2 local techs and 2-4 additional techs randomly as needed for larger projects) including scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, training & development, etc. - Direct and participate in all assigned construction activities defined in the scope-of-work including site walks, documentation, update meetings, securing materials, deployment and closeout packages, etc. - Maintain the highest industry standards for microwave tower installations, cable management/networking and safety - Complete initial Bill of Materials (BOM) for designated projects and maintain balance of inventory on hand - Participate in dispatching and scheduling work, including maintenance windows - Maintain project timeline - Complete daily per-site field reports - Complete daily per-site Job Safety Analysis (JSA) - Provide site scope input and participated in weekly remote company project meetings as needed - Collect all on-site closeout documentation and submit to the closeout manager per the deliverable timelines - Review all on-site closeout documentation for accuracy, completeness and timeliness - Direct or participate in all work on tower top, looking after all aspects of work, ensuring that a quality installation has been performed, including cable management, rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load-hopping, etc. - Oversee and participate in the installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, truing up, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and a compass, torqueing to spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, etc. - Perform coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installation, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc. - Connect coax feed lines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation - Perform and ensure others perform proper grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting, support of leads, etc. - Direct staff in overall ground work as well, including all supporting tasks required to build and install a site per company specs - Maintain safe work environment at all times including maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc. - Perform installations, uninstalls and maintenance of CalNeva Towers' microwave Internet /telecom service to its carrier customers - Must know how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc. - Perform cabling projects and networking duties at terminal facilities or other job locations - Ensure all staff members adhere to industry-specific, OSHA and CalNeva Towers' safety standards, and all standard company operating procedures - Immediately document and notify the HR Department regarding any staffing issues - large or small, that may negatively affect the company - Follow company policy for submitting requisitions in Fieldpoint - Other miscellaneous job-related tasks from time to time ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to lift/carry approx. 70 pounds (tool boxes, ladders, antennas, cabling, etc. to and from job sites - Ability to perform wireless equipment installations on rooftops, towers, poles, etc. - Ability and comfort level to climb communication towers without fear or hesitation (100-400 ft) - Physical ability to assist co-workers down from tower structure as required by OSHA - Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all company-provided software programs (FieldPoint, Visio Design, and others) and supporting technology - Availability to travel throughout the States of Reno and California for overnight trips as needed - Occasional opportunities to perform project-related work in Washington State - Comfortable and willing to work in inclement weather (snow, rain, heat, high wind, etc.) - Demonstrated Proficiency in PC and laptop computers and programs - Demonstrated ability to program and test microwave radios, routers and equipment - Demonstrated skills and ability to perform cabling projects as needed (Cat5, direct burial, etc.) - Ability to speak, read and write in English and communicate clearly and effectively with staff, customers and vendors - Demonstrate the ability to manage a crew of 2-6 through time management, organization, communication and follow up - Minimum 3 yrs experience in microwave Internet, fiber optics, cabling, cell tower work, etc. - Maintain OSHA 30, Tower Climbing, and Competent Person for Fall Arrest certifications - Maintain CPR/First aid certification - Obtain NWSA TTI Certification within 6 months of hire - Maintain bucket truck/lift and rigging certification - Valid driver’s license with annual abstract report verifying insurable driving record - Available to work from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and often longer, as needed, Monday - Friday. Emergency after- hours work may be required - Ability to continually pass random drug screens DOT-provided physicals COMPENSATION: $30.00 per hour.
