Job Overview Construction Detailers are responsible for punching out homes and getting them ready for homeowner walk-thrus and occupancy. To do well in this role you should be physically fit to perform job responsibilities, reliable, have an eye for detail, and be a hard worker. This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. He/She must be able to navigate the job site and must comply with all company safety requirements in the office and on the job site. Light equipment may be used, and he/she needs to be able to lift heavy objects. A job done right will look good and withstand the test of time. An analysis of job postings reveals these core tasks as common for construction detailers to do: The Essential Duties ● Operate and care for construction equipment and job sites. ● Perform small drywall and stucco repairs, grout touch ups, paint touch ups, cabinet touch ups, and general new home punch items. ● Sweep out production homes and perform site clean-up. ● Maintain Safety – Construction Detailers are expected to do their part in preventing accidents by cleaning up the work environment and the tools, being mindful of their actions, and wearing appropriate safety gear such as hard hats. The Essential Skills ● The ability to perform hard work is at the heart of being a construction detailer. ● The ability to work with hand tools. ● Manage time effectively, multi-tasking, and prioritizing to meet deadlines. ● Working well with others since projects are typically done in teams. ● Following instructions from supervisor and listening to directions of others so that work is done properly, and safety is maintained. ● Be Decisive – Working well under pressure and monitoring situations, such as unexpected situations or delays, weather, and what others are doing, in order to make adjustments and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
