Help with home recording, for F's sake haha

Hi all! Guitar player here. I am wanting to get into home recording a bit, but I really have no clue where to start. I see a lot of ads on here asking for samples, so I want to have a recorded portfolio of sorts. I also want to record my ideas and work on them over time while not forgetting ideas that I've come across while simply noodling around on guitar. But I need help haha. Just want to record guitar parts and be able to add drums. I've experimented a little with recording here and there, but it really seemed like you need an advanced degree in sound engineering to fluently use the software ha. I currently do not have any of the equipment or a DAW. We can arrange for lesson via Skype or in person, just need someone who knows their way around simple recording projects. So, anyone out there have an a hour or two available to give me a quick tutorial? Or can arrange for a once to twice a month lesson.
