Looking to rehome our Blue and Gold Macaw - Parrot

Description

Hello! Looking to rehome our Blue and Gold Macaw named "Bird" to the right family. We moved here from Michigan just over two years ago and he made the trip with us. We got Bird when he was a baby (6.5 years ago) and had to hand feed him. He is tame and loving. He speaks several words and still shocks us when he picks up new things. We have a dog and the dog is more afraid of Bird than Bird of the dog! He is in great health and his wings were last clipped a couple of months ago. He is not able to fly. Magnolia Bird Farm boards him for us when we travel. When we lived in Michigan we were home a TON! Since moving to California, our dynamic has changed a bit. My husband travels often for work now, one of our boys is still in Michigan for college and is getting ready to get married in October and most likely stay on the East Coast. Our other two boys are involved in extra curricular activities and working. We are not able to give Bird the attention that he is used to and deserves. We also had to downsize from our 3000sq ft single family home in Michigan to our 1700 sq ft townhome here. All this is very frustrating for Bird. When Bird doesn't get attention he likes to start squawking and yelling all the words that he knows over and over! Since we only lease our home (and it is attached to another home on one side), I don't want it to disrupt the neighbors...and he can be loud when he wants to! He goes to bed and wakes up with the sun. We have never had to cover his cage for him to sleep. He dislikes his cage covered as he likes to always see what is going on in his surroundings! He won't wake you up in the morning. He only starts to talk and make noise when he sees you emerge from your bedroom. He typically says "hello"! Bird loves nuts, fruits, veggies, and his normal food! We would like for him to go to a family that can give him the attention that he is used to or possibly a family that has another bird for him to interact with. We would prefer an experienced family as Blue and Gold Macaws are a lot of work and live a very long time. It is very likely that we will be relocating again in the next six months with my husband's job, and we want him to have a stable home. He loves the SoCal weather! Bird will come with his cage (where he sleeps at night and we put him when we leave the house), his coffee tree (with storage underneath and on castor wheels) where he sits during the day when we are home, and a travel cage that we use to bring him back and fourth when we board him. We use Kaytee Corn Cobb litter in the bottom of his tree and cage! We are asking for a 2500 rehoming fee to make sure we get a serious family for him that knows the value of this beautiful bird. We are really hoping to find the right family. Please only reach out to me if you are serious. I am willing to answer any questions that you might have. Thanks!
