Description
Embracing Nutrition for All: Promoting Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in Health & Nutrition Embracing Nutrition for All: Promoting Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in Health & NutritionWhile diversity, inclusion, and equity are three interconnected concepts, they far from interchangeable. As practitioners of health and nutrition, our services must encompass all the ways in which people are different and unique. By looking through a broader lens, we can see that diversity is more than race, ethnicity, or other common demographics. The recipients of our work also differ in thought processes, cultural influences, and daily living. In order to provide the best services, we must merge the way in which we deliver our services to include, accept, and celebrate the various perspectives of the people we serve. Ultimately, we must examine the value we place on the equitable distribution of access, opportunity, and improvement of health. These concepts are deeply connected to the overall health and nutrition of people. Access to the best food, nutrition services, and advice for healthy living for a diverse population requires a diverse group of educated professionals. With a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, nutrition professionals can best work—individually and together—to achieve effective, innovative collaborations to improve the health of all Georgians.
