Bring your lunch and enjoy a presentation from the City of Ocala's Water Resources! Reviving with Reuse - The Ocala Wetland Recharge Park Presenter: Rachel Slocumb has been with the City of Ocala since 2016 in the role of Water Resources Conservation Coordinator. During this time she has instituted programming and outreach that covers: water conservation, Your Toilet is Not a Trash Can, Don’t FOG Up Your Drain and the Ocala Wetland Recharge Park. Rachel previously was employed by both the University of Florida and the University of Georgia as an Extension Agent, and has a degree from the University of Minnesota in Agricultural Education. Topic: The Ocala Wetland Recharge Park allows the City of Ocala to efficiently use its water resources. By developing and operating this park the City of Ocala has created a wetland ecosystem, improved water quality and is boosting regional groundwater supplies by utilizing treated wastewater. The park sits on a 60 acre parcel and has welcomed over 50,000 visitors since its opening in September 2020. The park features 2.5 miles of paved walking trials, educational exhibits, scenic overlooks and educational signs.
