Dream Chambers is a black-centered monthly film program with the goal of supporting and promoting unconventional video-based work.
Presented by the O-22 collective, Dream Chambers is a black-centered monthly film program featuring the work of filmmakers and video artists both locally and internationally, with the goal of supporting and promoting unconventional video-based work.
This month we’re presenting Troubleman by Ivan Dixon:
(1972, HD, 99m) Cold as ice, hard as steel, and dressed to thrill, a private investigator known only as "Mr. T" (Robert Hooks) is hired by a gang to find out who's stealing from their underground gambling operation. Armed with deadly martial arts mastery and an arsenal of weapons, Mr. T battles his way through a dangerous maze of violence, turf wars, and even murder - while still finding time for the ladies. Not as popular as other Blaxploitation era films of its time due to its strict pro-black narratives, its soundtrack (by none other than Marvin Gaye himself) makes it an all-around classic.
Doors are at 6:00, come eat and drink in the theater before the show!
