Fatal Motorcycle Crash Under Investigation In Sarasota: Police

SARASOTA, FL — A Friday night crash that left a motorcyclist dead is under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department's traffic unit, police said in a news release. The crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle took place about 9 p.m. near the intersection of Bahia Vista Street and South Tuttle Avenue. The driver of the motorcycle, a man, was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and later died at SMH, police said. The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld until his family has been notified. The driver of the other vehicle, also a man, stayed on the scene and cooperated with officers, police said. SPD's traffic and criminalistics unit responded to the accident. The intersection of Bahia Vista Street and South Tuttle Avenue was closed for several hours Friday night during the investigation.
