Description
Fifth Annual Run Amok It's back! Coming soon to a trail/outdoor Hofbräuhaus patio near you: Sunday, October 3, 2021! To Run Amok: "To behave in a frenzied, out-of-control, or unrestrained manner." Join us to celebrate our COMPLETELY OUTDOOR FIFTH ANNUAL RUN AMOK to raise money in support of The Open Door, Inc. This year we have two race options: 5k: Get your run done!0.5k: You heard us. That's just 3/10 of a mile for those who want to participate and proceed directly to the party at Hofbrauhaus!Run, walk, ride your bike, amble...or just show up and be you. Either way, after the race, we'll meet at the Hofbräuhaus starting at noon to celebrate! Food and drinks are not included in the price, but if you are of legal drinking age, your first drink is on us. You know our deal: All donations go straight to helping our Pittsburgh neighbors who are living with HIV. Our race is swag-free. That means no free T-shirts (but available to purchase), no trophies, and no timing system (everyone's a winner!). This year there will be even more fun, with even more of us uniting to address social justice and homelessness in our city. THE DETAILS (because we know it is confusing) What/When/Where: Check in: 10:00am at the Hofbräuhaus downstairs patio, under the tentRace start: 11:00am start across the trail from Hofbräuhaus (look for the door!)Run (5k) or amble (.5k): We'll start on the Southside Riverfront Trail, cross the Hot Metal Bridge and then make a left on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail before turning around and heading back to Hofbräuhaus Meet and Greet: 12:00pm at Hofbräuhaus on the outside patio (if you want to skip the race, just meet us there and we can check you in!)OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW Parking options: Hot Metal Parking Garage, Southside Works Ladle Garage, Ingot Garage, Furnace GarageCost: $35 to run or walk / $45 to NOT runBring the kids - they're free! This is a fun, family-friendly, and non-competitive event! All are welcome! The Open Door is founded on principles of health, well-being, and protecting those who are most vulnerable and marginalized. Our Run Amok 2021 event will be held completely outdoors - rain or shine, with tents - to provide a safe atmosphere for all in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will also be following guidelines issued by the CDC and the PA Department of Health, and will make announcements of protocols and best practices closer to the time of the event. Please keep in mind that some of the people who will be joining us at Run Amok will be immune compromised, and as this is a family friendly event, some children in attendance will not yet be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. For these reasons, we ask that only those who are vaccinated join us in person. If you are not vaccinated, are experiencing COVID-related symptoms, or have had a recent exposure at the time of the event, we invite you to walk, run, or amble on your own, then post your activity on social media and tag The Open Door so you can celebrate with us safely. Thank you for your support and for prioritizing health! Building from a harm reduction model, The Open Door, Inc. provides supportive housing and related services to improve the health of the forgotten population of high-risk, chronically homeless people living with HIV.
