Military Non-Profit & Teamsters Local 25 Send Hurricane Relief

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Massachusetts Military Support Foundation along with members of Teamsters Local 25 loaded a truck bound for Louisianna in an attempt to aid those hit hardest by Hurricane Ida Monday morning. The groups have organized the truck so dozens of pallets will be filled with supplies for the victims of this month's devastating Hurricane Ida. Personal hygiene products, over-the-counter medications, snack food, first aid supplies, paper products and more will be distributed by MMSF and Local 25, a group of union workers who say they are just in it to help people in need. "It's what we do. We like to help people...we've done this every hurricane it seems" says Bob McAllister, Teamster of Local 25. "It's pretty bad down in the lowest sections of New Orleans. This helps because they've lost everything and trying to get product down to into them is very difficult because a lot of the stores are closed and the markets have been destroyed or haven't been up and running." Kelli from Boston CommunicationsMMSF says they are working in conjunction with a local Louisiana nonprofit charity group. "Sharing is caring. We had the same thing happen to us years ago and I vowed to always help other organizations in need," says Don Cox, President of Massachusetts Military Support Foundation. "This is what we do. We usually do it here in Massachusetts for our veterans and military families, but when a disaster or something happens like this, we're right on the scene to try to help whoever we can."
