Description

Join the CRC Watershed on a tour of the Caleb Pusey House in Upland Borough and learn about the history of the Chester Mills. Arriving in Pennsylvania in 1682 with William Penn on the ship “Welcome,” Caleb Pusey managed the 1st official sawmill and gristmill in the colony. Friends of the Caleb Pusey House and members of the Chester Historic Preservation Committee will be on hand in period attire to relay the story of the only remaining building known to have been visited by William Penn, as well as the history of the nearby mills erected along Chester Creek. Following the tour, you are invited to stop at one of the two remaining Crozer Mills mansions. Carol Fireng, the owner of Cheshire House, will provide a tour of the 1716 Mansion and highlight its historic significance. CRC's mission is to support, encourage and promote the enjoyment, restoration, conservation, protection and prudent management of the natural resources of the Chester, Ridley and Crum Creek Watersheds.
