DENVER, CO — An Arvada man was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison for possessing unregistered firearm silencers, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado announced Friday. Ronald Allen Grace Jr., 54, ordered two packages from China that contained firearm sound suppressors, according to a plea agreement. He was previously convicted of two felony offenses and was prohibited from possessing guns or silencers, the district office said. Federal agents obtained a search warrant for Grace's home, where they found 15 firearms and 14 firearm suppressors, the office said. The silencers had been ordered from a website that was known to illegally ship them to the U.S., prosecutors said. "Silencers are often used to facilitate crimes, which is why federal law requires that they be registered," said Acting United States Attorney Matt Kirsch. "We will continue to protect public safety by seeking stiff penalties for people breaking federal firearms laws."
