SAN RAFAEL, CA — A pro-recall demonstrator was seriously injured Sunday afternoon during an altercation in San Rafael with a knife-wielding assailant, ABC7 News reports.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and was diagnosed with a cracked skull and a broken jaw, according to the report, which cites a fellow demonstrator Tief Gibbs.
Gibbs did not witness the alleged assault but spoke with others who had.
The assault occurred on a walkway over Highway 101 in San Rafael, the report said.
The assailant was wielding a knife when he approached the demonstrators and started slashing their signage, the report said.
He assaulted a of the demonstrator who confronted him.
"The assailant came towards him and pushed him back and started punching him," Gibbs told the television station.
