EXTON, PA — A 22-year-old man who asked for change in smaller cash denominations for $100-dollar bills in Exton and West Chester has been charged because the bills were counterfeit, police said. Ward Elliott Roberts, 22, of Philadelphia, was charged with forgery and theft by deception, as well as trademark counterfeiting and distributing, and multiple other charges, after he allegedly entered the Giant grocery store at Bradford Plaza and gave a $100 bill to an employee, asking for U.S. currency in smaller denomination in June, according to a police report. West Chester Police said Roberts was identified after he later did the same thing at Walmart in Exton. He was arraigned in Chester County Court on Aug. 9 and bail was set at $25,000.
