Coronavirus Hospitalizations, Ventilator Use Up In Philly

PHILADELPHIA — Despite positive coronavirus tests waning, Philadelphia is seeing more people being hospitalized and on ventilators due to the virus. According to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, 19 more people have been hospitalized with the virus since Thursday last week. At the moment, 214 patients are on ventilators; up from 195 reported Thursday. Additionally, ventilator use saw an increase from 24 last week to 34 this week. To date, 3,838 Philadelphians died from the virus. The city's positive testing rate went down from 5 percent to 4 percent since Thursday. An average of 234 new daily cases have been reported over the past two weeks. In total, 157,785 Philadelphians have been diagnosed with the virus. At least 840,641 Philadelphians have been fully vaccinated, and the number of Philadelphians with at least one vaccine dose is at least 1,024,092. Currently, 67.7 percent of Philadelphia adults are fully vaccinated, and 82.5 percent of Philadelphia adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
