Firefighters Save Trapped Resident From House Fire In Lisle

LISLE, IL — Firefighters saved an elderly person who was trapped inside a bedroom during a house fire in Lisle early Monday. The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. in the 6700 block of Aspen Road. When fire crews got to the scene, they found smoke and fire coming from the back of the single-story house. Two residents had safely escaped the blaze and informed firefighter that someone was still trapped inside. Firefighters extricated the person from the bedroom and carried them to safety through the front door of the house. The resident was evaluated by emergency responders who were at the scene. No one was hospitalized as a result of the blaze. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, but crews stayed at the scene to until 5:30 a.m. for salvage and overhaul. The house was deemed uninhabitable. "I am extremely proud of our team members," Lisle-Woodridge Fire District Chief Keith Krestan said in a news release. Their quick actions in a dangerous situation certainly changed the outcome. Krestan added, "Due to their efforts none of the homeowners required transportation to the hospital." Further information about the rescued resident was not made available Monday morning due to HIPAA regulations, a spokesperson for Lisle-Woodridge Fire District told Patch. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
