UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 28-year-old man was biking alongside a 19-year-old Saturday at the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 99th Street when a dark-colored sedan struck the duo, sending both to the hospital, and killing the older man, police said. Police arrived at the Upper West Side block around 1:30 a.m. to find both men with injuries throughout their bodies. The sedan, however, was nowhere to be found, as it fled northbound on Amsterdam after the impact, NYPD said. Emergency services rushed both men to Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, where the 28-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later, and the 19-year-old was listed in stable condition, police said. A preliminary investigation found that the 28-year-old was biking as the 19-year-old walked alongside him when they were struck by the car. The sedan then bolted, and the investigation is ongoing by the New York City Police Department's Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad. The name of the 28-year-old is being withheld pending family notification. The biker was not the only person killed by a car Saturday on the Upper West Side. Ilse Falcone, 73, was walking later that morning at West 66th Street and Amsterdam, when she was hit and killed by a car backing out of a parking spot, said the New York Police Department.
