DETROIT — A medical marijuana dispensary in Southwest Detroit will have to be torn down after the road it was on buckled, Detroit officials said Monday. Stash Detroit, a cannabis dispensary at the intersection of West Fort Street and Dearborn Street, shifted a few feet off the ground when the road buckled Saturday night. Building damage put it at immediate risk of collapsing onto the sidewalk and utility lines, officials said. So far, it appears no one was hurt, officials said. Live in Detroit? The city's public works department is working with DTE Energy and the Great Lakes Water Authority to figure out why the ground shifted. "At this time, there is no evidence to indicate natural gas was the cause of the incident; a natural gas explosion did not occur," the utility said in a statement. "However, parts of DTE's gas and electric infrastructure were impacted by a water main break. DTE personnel are on-site to ensure public safety as well as the integrity of the natural gas and electric infrastructure systems." The Southwest Detroit Community Benefits Coalition on Sunday confirmed on Twitter there was an underground explosion and asked people to immediately leave the area if they smelled or suspected a gas leak. The city indefinitely closed down W. Fort at Miller, W. Fort at Woodmere, Dearborn at Riverside and Dearborn at Stone.
